December 1776: Just six months after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, George Washington and the new American Army sit on the verge of utter destruction by the banks of the Delaware River. The despondent and demoralized group of men had endured repeated defeats and now were on the edge of giving up hope. Washington feared "the game is pretty near up."Rather than submit to defeat, Washington and his small band of soldiers crossed the ice-choked Delaware River and attacked the Hessian garrison at Trenton, New Jersey on the day after Christmas. He followed up the surprise attack with successful actions along the Assunpink Creek and at Princeton. In a stunning military campaign, Washington had turned the tables, and breathed life into the dying cause for liberty during the Revolutionary War.The campaign has led many historians to deem it as one of the most significant military campaigns in American history. One British historian even declared that "it may be doubted whether so small a number of men ever employed so short a space of time with greater or more lasting results upon the history of the world."In Victory or Death, historian Mark Maloy not only recounts these epic events, he takes you along to the places where they occurred. He shows where Washington stood on the banks of the Delaware and contemplated defeat, the city streets that his exhausted men charged through, and the open fields where Washington himself rode into the thick of battle. Victory or Death is a must for anyone interested in learning how George Washington and his brave soldiers grasped victory from the jaws of defeat.

He was the commander who led a rag-tag army of freedom fighters bent on defending liberty in a battle for Texas independence at the Alamo in 1836. But as he sees the memory of his ghost confronted by hordes of haphazard historians bent on his destruction, William Barret "Buck" Travis finds himself and everything he stood for under fire. Through some freakish fracture in time, he is transformed into modern day San Antonio to face a revisionist future that questions both his mission and motives for leading the battle that cost all who fought in it their lives. Can Lori, a fair-minded beauty and self-driven historian and reenactor, help him navigate past forces set on destroying his legacy, even as he tumbles headlong between historic past and uncharted future, triggered unwittingly by the drop of a hat or ringing of a re-enactor's musket? "Victory Or Death: Alamo Reprise" is a taut historical fantasy from the creative mind of Edith Elizabeth Pollitz that explores the relevancy of what transpired during the famous battle for Texas in 1836 through the eyes of today's revisionist culture. Can Travis withstand the scathing scrutiny that confronts him? Or are he and those who fought under his command to be buried unceremoniously in the annals of history by the very descendants of those for whom they fought and died? The line is drawn: Victory or Death awaits. ~Ned Anthony Huthmacher, author of the Alamo novel "One Domingo Morning" and moderator for the John Wayne THE ALAMO forum.~

During the spring of 1775, tensions and tempers boiled over and armed conflict erupted between the American colonists and the military forces of their mother country, England. As 1776 looms on the horizon, General George Washington, commander of the American forces, finds himself in a stalemate. He has 6,000 British soldiers throttled in the city of Boston and yearns to pick a fight. His plan, along with Congress, is to force the British Parliament to address the complaints and demands of the colonists. The Crown and Parliament would do so, but not in the fashion that he and his fellow patriots expected. 1776 would prove to be a tumultuous and monumental year for the young United States. King George III has now viciously turned against the colonists and solicited the assistance of auxiliary troops from Hesse-Kassel, Hesse-Hanau and other German principalities. Diplomacy has produced no results at reconciliation and a war for independence emerges as their only option. In July, Congress declares the colonies independent and generates a list of grievances for all the world to read. Armed conflict would escalate throughout the summer resulting in a string of battlefield successes for the British. Defeat, disease and desertion would continue to decimate Washington's army, prospects for independence and the spirits of the young nation. As the year nears its end, so too does Washington's army and the revolution for which they are fighting. Christian Maier, still providing assistance to the British army in Canada, must confront professional and domestic hardships to survive the winter and return to his home in Pennsylvania. Tammany Maier must endure the continuing military and medical hardships in Canada before returning to General Washington to help keep the revolution alive. George Washington must learn from his army's many failures, overcome the lack of support of his trusted compatriots and somehow cobble together a formula that will allow the revolution to continue beyond year's end.

Texas is booming. In recent years, the Lone Star State has experienced some of the most rapid growth in the country, both in its economy and in its population. This is thanks to an influx of businesses relocating to Texas to take advantage of all its benefits. But this increase in population has also brought about a shift in the political dialogue within Texas's borders. As more people pour into Texas, they bring with them liberal and socialist ideologies as they try to swing the state from red to blue. These plans for changing policies will suffocate the highly successful capitalist state and its residents, and according to Lt. Col. Allen West (Ret.), allowing these liberal ideals to creep into the legislative branch will be the death of Texas. In Hold Texas, Hold the Nation: Victory or Death, West explains how the longstanding conservative capitalist policies within the state's government have allowed it to flourish over the years, providing hard-to-ignore evidence and allowing his experience in Congress to support his argument. He makes his stand, asserting that Texas must hold fast to its conservative ways and resist succumbing to liberal mindsets, or else cease to prosper, and begin to perish. Texas is a sustaining force for America, truly embodying the founding principles of America: those unalienable individual rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In Texas, it's "Victory or Death ."

When Guns N' Roses released Appetite For Destruction in 1987, no one could have predicted the impact it would have on rock music. And yet, despite its enormous commercial success, with 30 million copies shifted, Appetite For Destruction still stands as one of the darkest, most decadent albums ever released. Fuelled by a detailed chronological narration splitted into several time jumps, Victory or Death mainly focuses on the technical and musical aspects related to Appetite For Destruction, but also aims to investigate the background of what can be considered, in a way, the greatest debut album of all time, whose inviolability can be compared to that of other masterpieces such as Dark Side Of The Moon or Led Zeppelin IV. The volume includes a brief guide to the 20 ideal post-Appetite records, carefully selected by the author himself.
