Chris Boardman is the 2017 winner of the Cross Sports Cycling Book of the Year for his autobiography Triumphs and Turbulence. ‘The true inspiration was that Olympic gold won by Chris Boardman in Barcelona... I was so in awe of Chris Boardman’ Sir Bradley Wiggins You may know him as the much-loved co-presenter of ITV’s Tour de France coverage or enjoyed his BBC Olympic coverage, but beyond the easy charm Chris Boardman is one of our greatest, most inspiring cyclists. Boardman’s lone achievements in the 80s and 90s – Olympic track gold, the world hour record, repeatedly claiming the yellow jersey in the Tour de France – were the spark that started the modern era for British cycling. His endeavours both on and off the bike have made him the founding father of current golden generation – without him there would simply be no Hoy, Wiggins or Cavendish. It is a story full of intrigue: from Olympic success, to the famous duels with Graeme Obree and the insanity of the Tour de France. Chris became a legend for his combination of physical ability and technical preparation, almost single-handedly taking British cycling from wool shirts and cloth caps into the era of marginal gains. Indeed, after his career on the bike ended, a new chapter began as the backroom genius behind GB cycling. As head of the R&D team known as The Secret Squirrel Club, Chris has been responsible for the technical innovations that made the difference in 2012 and developed Boardman Bikes, which has become the country's bestselling premium bike range.

A survivor said, Our plane crashed hitting first on the left wing and then on the nose. Before coming to a stop the small plane cartwheeled about 250 feet. When it finally stopped, it was no longer a plane or hardly even recognizable as one. Somewhere inside that twisted heap of steel, with gasoline soaked all over it and its passengers, were three human beings who had been on a mission of mercy. The story which follows is true. It's a heart-warming account of how God in His infinite wisdom, led one step at a time; how through every new adjustment there was grace commensurate with the need. The reader will want to read Triumph Through Tragedy in one evening. You'll experience, through the printed page, just what can happen to a victim of a plane crash, and how all difficulties are overcome by God's grace.

Western Uttar Pradesh has a proud history, but no historian. They have long memories, but little sense of history. Their record in patriotic valor is glorious. Some had James Tod, some had Grant Duff, some had Cunningham as historians, but this region had no historian. There are many unsung stories of individuals who have sacrificed and contributed to India's freedom and independence but haven't got the recognition they rightfully deserve. In 2022, India will be celebrating 75 years of her freedom, and as an extension of the i Déjà vu series, we have committed ourselves to extract and mine the long-lost jewels to recognize and bestow to the world the unknown histories that awaken and stimulates the aggression. The fusion between the dynasties and the rebels of India who fought for their freedom and transformed the ethos of Indian spirits. Aryan Tomar, an Indo-Canadian astropreneur teenager, brings this fascinating period vividly alive, combining cognizance with immersive storytelling, and analysis with an untold story, proudly interrogating his own great-grandfather and beyond.

This is a triumphant story of comeback in life and business. Robert Owen Carr experienced decades of struggle that took him to the brink of home foreclosure at age fifty. He would later make a fortune in the card payments industry, only to lose almost everything in 2009, after one of the most devastating data breaches ever. Daring to go public about the cyber attack, Carr saved his company from ruin and fought his way back to prosperity. Along the way he kept a promise to devote his financial success to young people from modest backgrounds, founding the Give Something Back Foundation as an expression of gratitude for the $250 scholarship he received as a high school senior. Unflinchingly revealing, Through the Fires describes one man's rise from an abusive, hardscrabble Illinois youth to success as an entrepreneurial idealist who overcame setbacks to ultimately thrive and do his bit to make the world a little better.

The ancient poets tell us that in the year 776 B.C. a young cook from Elis won a great footrace in a meadow near the river Alpheus at Olympia. The youth, Coroebus, was crowned with a wreath of wild olive twigs and thus became the first recorded victor in the ancient Olympic Games. From this beginning there evolved an alliance of sport and the arts that no culture or civilization since the Greeks has been able to achieve. During the summer of 1984, a collection of scholars, athletes, and artists from various disciplines convened in Coroebus's honor to celebrate the alliance of sport and the arts with the formation of the Sport Literature Association. The papers in this volume, most of which were presented at the Coroebus Conference, are devoted to examining and furthering the understanding of that alliance. The Coroebus Conference, and particularly the resulting writings compiled in this volume, are a long overdue recognition of a neglected relationship. This book could well provide the impetus to recapture the alliance from which both sport and the arts benefitted so well in the past. Originally published in 1989.

When george washington took office, the territory now known as the United States had been for many years a pawn in the struggle between Europe's great powers. It might easily have remained so had not Washington set about the invention of a firm but flexible foreign policy. Reuter discusses the ways that Washington and his administration, while dealing with the day-to-day expediencies of establishing a new nation safe from both her friends and enemies, set the precedents which would govern both the manner and matter of American foreign policy for a century and a half.
