For upwards of 25 years, Yemi D. Prince (also known as Yemi D. Ogunyemi) has systematically devoted himself to the education, research and reason of Creative Writing and from Creative Writing to Creative Thinking and from Creative Thinking to Yoruba narrative, cultural, folk philosophy. On realizing that Creative Thinking has become his area of focus and interest, he succeeds in cultivating big ideas, combining them with his life-long experiences in the Humanities, transforming them into new ways of writing, thinking or reasoning. (Some of his big ideas have led to the publication of booklets such as Yoruba Idealism, We Should All Be Philosophers, The Artist-Philosophers in Yoruba land, Codes of Morality and Pursuit of Wisdom.) Thus his big ideas have helped him separate Yoruba folk philosophy from Yoruba autochthonous religion. With his love for big ideas, born out of Creative Thinking and Critical Thinking, he has been able to put a new face on Yoruba Philosophy.

It is structured in an easy and accessible way and suggests a simple work of practice in which there is nothing to change in your life, you just have to add and maintain the quality and attitude you are in succession practicing. Seeds of Enlightenment is an easy program, it requires monastic commitment and determination, but it is certainly pleasant and rewarding and lovingly leads you, step by step, directly to fulfilling your own destiny. Seeds of Enlightenment is a handbook of modern Zen practice. Be patient and diligent, the path itself is already a point of arrival beyond time and target. THE EXCERPTS: These poems describe some virtues found in today's societies which if widely spread become hallmarks of enlightened societies. The form is a five-line poem derived from japanese poetry. It is not typical of poems here but introduces some enlightened society characteristics. SEEDS OF ENLIGHTENED SOCIETY: Virtues to Nourish is a volume of poetry which describes virtues manifest by basic goodness in our individual social relations, in groups, and organizations. These are seeds to be nurtured and cherished so that they characterize society as a whole. This volume is in eight parts. Each part contains poetry expressive of a facet of enlightened society brought about by virtues present in today's society. These virtues must be strengthened and become widely spread in order to achieve a universal enlightened society. Parts I & II talk about the Shambhala Principle or basic goodness. Basic goodness forms the primordial core of humanity's existence. It manifests as virtues of loving- kindness, generosity, friendliness etc. characteristic of enlightened society. Part III"Enlightened Society" is poems that seek to express the feeling of living in enlightened society. This is especially true of the Shambhala House Hold (revised). Part IV is a series of nine short poems which describe virtues inherent in basic good ness. Part V describes some characteristics of enlightened corporations. Some of the obstacles which Shambhala warriors must overcome in the quest for enlightened society and some of the heroes of that quest are described in Part VI. Foremost among obstacles are greed, hatred, arrogance and envy, Part Vll lists some of the departures from the Path to enlightenment that advanced practitioners are prone to. The main obstacle to enlightened society is that humanity has not reached a consensus on the fact that it is basically good. We must believe that we are all worthy individuals and live in accordance with this.

The intense piety of late T'ang essays on Buddhism by literati has helped earn the T'ang its title of the "golden age of Chinese Buddhism." In contrast, the Sung is often seen as an age in which the literati distanced themselves from Buddhism. This study of Sung devotional texts shows, however, that many literati participated in intra-Buddhist debates. Others were drawn to Buddhism because of its power, which found expression and reinforcement in its ties with the state. For some, monasteries were extravagant houses of worship that reflected the corruption of the age; for others, the sacrifice and industry demanded by such projects were exemplars worthy of emulation. Finally, Buddhist temples could evoke highly personal feelings of filial piety and nostalgia. This book demonstrates that representations of Buddhism by lay people underwent a major change during the T'ang-Sung transition. These changes built on basic transformations within the Buddhist and classicist traditions and sometimes resulted in the use of Buddhism and Buddhist temples as frames of reference to evaluate aspects of lay society. Buddhism, far from being pushed to the margins of Chinese culture, became even more a part of everyday elite Chinese life.

This volume comprises three important texts of the Yogacara school. Demonstration of Consciousness Only is a translation of Vasubandhu's Thirty Verses plus the interpretation of Dharmapala as the ultimately correct view of the text, with the supplementation of two or three divergent interpretations. It is an attempt to answer the question of the mechanism and nature of ignorance by demonstrating that seemingly real external objects of perception and the equally seemingly real self who perceives these things are mental fabrications that do not exist apart from consciousness itself. Thirty Verses on Consciousness Only is the short verse work by Bodhisattva Vasubandhu that propounds the idea that nothing exists except consciousness or mind, and that all things believed ty the ordinary person to be objective realities outside mind are in reality mere mental constructs. The Treatise in Twenty Verses on Consciousness Onlyis a companion piece to the Thirty Verses. It is a series of hypothetical objections by possible opponents with replies by Vasubandhu. The objections of opponent takes the realistic, no-nonsense position that the things seen, heard, smelled, etc., are real things that exist in the world outside the mind. The opponent typically offers an argument as to why it cannot be possible for perceived objects to be merely mental constructs. Vasubandhu counters each argument, explaining why the realistic argument is faulty, and why objects of perception cannot rationally be considered to exist apart from consciousness.
